Your Garden Flowers

Over the years I have been growing and drying my own garden flowers and its a lovely way to treasure your own garden, from seed and nurture to gorgeous blooms, before then drying them to savour those memories.

You might want to capture a moment that was special to you, a family occasion, the perfect spring evening with a loved one, the kids playing in the garden or you might want to save a little part of your garden as you are moving or you have to sell the childhood home.

Mum’s Garden

Ros and her sister were selling their parents home and wanted to remember their mum’s garden, so they picked flowers from the garden and sent them to me to preserved and create necklaces for them both to treasure.

Ros packaged up the flowers really carefully, each time I get clients flowers, I love the different methods that people use to send them to me. For the best way to send your flowers take a look here.

Ros included some Sedum which I did attempt to dry but because its a very draught tolerant plant, it wasn’t a success but all the other flowers dried really well.

After the flowers were dried out, I sent a photo to Ros so that she could see how the flowers and greenery looked now that they were dried out.

The flowers were then arranged in the mini glass spheres, these are 16mm in diameter and have an entrance of about 4mm, so some of the flower petals would have to be cut to allow them to fit inside the glass. I created a few options whilst for Ros and her sister so that they could choose what they would like. I had enough dried petals to recreate a similar necklace should they both want a matching necklace.

When the necklaces were ready for Ros and her sister to preview, I send over lots of images so that they got a real feel for how they would look when they were finished. The photos above show the necklaces face on and at different directions. As the petals aren’t set in resin, some of the pieces I create have movement, as you wear the necklaces the petals and tiny flowers will tumble inside the glass. This allows you to see the flowers in a different way each time you pause to reflect and enjoy them.

Below are the necklaces that Ros and her sister choose, both finished with solid silver tops and sterling silver chains.

The flowers that Ros and her sister collected were very important to them, the process of saving a little part of theirs mothers garden allowed them both to carry a little part of their mother with them and treasure those memories. Should you want to do something similar then please feel free to get in contact with me and book your flowers in by filling in this form to start the process.
