The texture on this ring was never added afterwards, it grew out of the wax itself. Mitsuro Hikime is an ancient Japanese technique built entirely around patience, warming the wax by hand and stretching it gently until fine lines begin to appear on their own, closer to something natural than something tooled. The wax responds a little differently every time it's worked, which means the result can never be planned in advance, and never repeated once it's done. What you see here happened once, and won't happen again.
For the Double Ended Fine Leaf Ring, that same hand-stretched wax was shaped into a clean, tapering leaf form, with a wider wrapped leaf at the front, narrowing gracefully towards the back of the band. The finish is soft and white across most of the surface, with polished highlights breaking through where the light catches the curve. Once the wax form was right, it was cast in sterling silver and finished by hand to bring out that contrast.
It's a refined, quietly elegant ring, simple in shape but rich in detail close up. A lovely choice for anyone who wants something nature-inspired and one of a kind, without anything too bold.
Details:
Style: Tapering leaf shape, fuller at the front, slender at the back
Inspiration: The natural taper and form of a leaf
Technique: Mitsuro Hikime, hand-formed in wax, then cast
Materials: Solid sterling silver, soft white finish with polished highlights
Band width: 8mm at the front, tapering to 4mm at the back
Size: K
Handmade: In the UK studio, one off piece, never repeated
As this is a one-of-a-kind piece in size K, once it's gone, it's gone. If you'd like a similar leaf design made in a different size, get in touch to discuss a bespoke commission.
A lovely gift for someone who loves nature, individuality, and jewellery with real story behind it.
