Handcrafted Sterling Silver Heavy Bark & Leaf Ring.
A one-of-a-kind sterling silver ring, inspired by nature and formed using Mitsuro Hikime, an ancient Japanese wax-shaping technique. A deep, bark-like band with a single leaf form lifting away on one side.
There's a reason this technique can't be copied with tools or moulds. Mitsuro Hikime relies entirely on warm wax and patient hands, stretching the wax slowly until ridges and grooves appear on their own, the kind of detail you'd usually only find in something that's grown rather than made. Every piece goes through the same process, and yet every piece comes out differently, because the wax simply doesn't behave the same way twice. This ring holds a pattern that exists nowhere else.
For the Heavy Bark & Leaf, that same hand-stretched wax was shaped into a substantial band with deep ridges running right round it, like real bark, while on one side a leaf form lifts and sweeps across the top, as though peeling gently away. It's a heavier, more substantial piece than some of the others in the collection, with real weight and presence on the hand. Once the wax form was right, it was cast in solid sterling silver and finished by hand, keeping every line and ridge visible in the metal.
This is one of Lizzy's own favourites from the collection, and it's easy to see why. It has real substance, a strong textured surface to run your fingers over, and a quiet confidence that suits someone who wants a piece with genuine presence.
