Wrapping Curl Vine Ring

£395.00

Handcrafted Sterling Silver Wrapping Curl Vine Ring.

A one-of-a-kind sterling silver ring, inspired by nature and formed using Mitsuro Hikime, an ancient Japanese wax-shaping technique. A single curling vine, raised and looped as though caught halfway through growing.

Texture that's never been carved. Every line in this piece was formed by hand, by stretching warm wax until it found its own pattern, the same way bark splits or a leaf vein branches. It's an ancient Japanese technique called Mitsuro Hikime, and because no two stretches of wax behave the same way twice, no two pieces ever come out alike. This one won't be repeated.

For the Wrapping Curl, that same hand-stretched wax was shaped into a single coiling vine, sitting up off the band rather than lying flat against it. It's inspired by the way a tendril climbs and loops back on itself in the garden, looking for something to hold onto. Once the wax form was right, it was cast in sterling silver and finished by hand, so the texture from the wax stays visible in the metal.

It's a lovely ring for anyone who loves nature and prefers jewellery with a real process and story behind it, rather than something stamped out the same way a hundred times over.
